Posted: September 24, 2013

Dr. Aguirre is pleased to announce that he has received a new subspecialty certification from the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.  These new subspecialties were approved by the ABMS in March during their board meeting in Washington, D.C. The new certification is administered from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG), from which Dr. Aguirre is also board-certified.

“With ongoing advances in medicine, the addition of these new subspecialties will enable patients to receive the highest quality care from the most qualified specialists,” said Kevin B. Weiss, MD, the ABMS President and CEO. To earn and maintain certification in this new subspecialty, Dr. Aguirre committed to participation in the ABMS Maintenance of Certification® (ABMS MOC®) program created by ABMS and its 24 Member Boards to promote lifelong learning and self assessment for physician specialists.

“Achieving certification in the new subspecialty of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery was very important to me,” says Dr. Aguirre, “as I am committed to staying up-to-date with the most advanced and emerging methods of this very specialized area of medicine. I hope to continue to be a leader in the field of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery as well as Cosmetic Gynecology for my Denver patients.”

Dr. Aguirre continues to treat conditions such as vaginal prolapse, urinary incontinence, urinary retention, overactive bladder, painful bladder syndrome/Interstitial Cystitis (PBS/IC) as well as complications from prior pelvic repairs with or without the use of mesh materials.
