Management of Urethral Irritation
After Urodynamic Testing and Cystoscopy

You may experience temporary urinary urgency, frequency, burning with urination or urethral irritation after urodynamic testing and cystoscopy. For this, you may take an over-the-counter urinary analgesic such as Azo-Standard or Uristat. These can be found in most grocery and drug stores. Please read the package insert to make certain that you don’t have any contraindications to taking this type of medication.

Please call our office if these symptoms do not start to resolve within 48 hours after your procedure.  DO NOT take this medication for 72 hours prior to having urodynamic testing or cystoscopy or the testing will need to be cancelled and rescheduled.
