SmartLipo™ is the first laser approved by the FDA to be used for fat dissolution and removal with tumescent liposuction. Introduced in 2007, this laser technology utilizes a 1064 wave length that targets red blood cells and thus results in less blood loss. In addition it produces a burst of energy as it enters the fatty tissue that dissolves the fat so it can be removed by suctioning. This improves the safety of the procedure by being able to melt the fat without heating the tissue excessively. Smaller areas of melted fat can actually reabsorb into the body and may not even need suctioning for optimal results.
During this in-office procedure, a tiny incision is made in the skin where the laser is inserted to destroy the fats cells. An oily liquid substance, which resides in the fat cells, is removed through the incision. The laser used in this procedure also seals blood vessels as it is destroying the fat cells. By doing so, there are significantly less side effects, such as swelling, bleeding and bruising resulting in superior results with the least trauma and downtime.
SmartLipo™ MPX allows the surgeon to work closely under the skin for the first time providing a smoother and more sculpted result. Dr. Aguirre will therefore choose this technology when skin tightening is one of the objectives or is necessary to achieve the ideal results.
By choosing SmartLipo™ MPX over regular liposuction, a patient will see results faster and experience fewer complications. Patients interested in this minimally invasive procedure will be able to have it performed by Dr. Aguirre in his office, as opposed to a hospital. The procedure takes approximately 60 minutes per area with almost immediate results, followed by continued improvement over several weeks. Typically, this procedure will only need to be performed once.
